Liaison with Your Family Physician

Collaboration with all agencies that could benefit your child and family is essential to our work at Pediatric Services.

We set up an inter-agency individual family service plan team with parents to customize a plan of intervention for your child. An important component of that plan is medical management of your child’s health and physical growth. We strongly encourage you to include your pediatrician or family doctor as part of the team.

Your physician is key to continual medical management and serves as consultant to the team of professionals who provide direct intervention services. Your physician will also provide written reports and diagnostic information. Your physician can support your family and help in obtaining additional services to benefit you and your child.

As an important part of the Pediatric Services coordinated system of services, your physician can provide medical data regarding your child’s physical growth, documenting the need for nutritional counseling, occupational therapy, or other appropriate services.

The physician is the member of the team that is able to diagnose your child, should that be appropriate. Furthermore, your physician brings training, an advanced degree, and a wealth of knowledge about your child.

It is important that your physician join in listening to your concerns, priorities, and support your commitment in understanding your special child’s needs.
