Nancy

Nancy and Ray ... married for decades -- and loving it.

Nancy is my wife. We’ve been happily married for the last 19 years. That’s not bad for 27 years of married life!

Nancy is a photographer. Nancy is a writer ... Nancy makes a living writing ALL that junk mail that arrives in your post office mail box. Well, not all of it - a lot of it.

And Nancy is a great cook, ... so we have a deal; She cooks, I eat! You can see I eat very well.

I have not always been a good husband. Since Nancy is wife #2, obviously I wasn’t very good at it the first time. And it took nearly a decade into the second for me to really do my part.

Not so for Nancy. She has ALWAYS been there for me. Always.

When I said ...

* "let’s take a year off and travel the America’s ... "from the Arctic Circle to Tierra del Fuego, Argentina" and back ... she said "okay".

When I said ...

* "let’s take 6 months and camp in 26 countries across Africa", she was with me.

When I wanted ...

* to buy my first Harley, she was all for it.

Nancy has ALWAYS been there. Always.

Still, this Leukemia thing was tough on her. The early doctor appointments I did on my own - hey, it was a check-up. No big deal. We weren't talking Survival! Not yet. Still, when it came time to talk with the bone marrow transplant guys, I was in pretty deep. And I wanted her with me.

Nancy never missed a beat. She has ALWAYS been with me. Always. Because she understood.

Nancy was with me from Day One in the hospital, too. Still, we did have our times . . .

i.e ... during my 8 days of being totally out of it, one day I got angry at her. I don’t know why - I just did. I stepped out of bed, picked up my pillow, tucked it under my arm ... and announced;

"I’m going to the other bedroom".

Nancy put up her hand like a traffic cop ... and got me to stop. She told me she’d "go to the other bedroom". She walked out of the room, did a ‘U’ turn in the hallway, and came back. By then, of course, I’d forgotten everything.

Yes, Nancy never missed a beat. Nancy - to this day - says ... "what’s next".
