Danielle & Brittany

When they were very young, Mom Julie asked me to work at being a good Grandfather to her girls. Julie missed having grandparents. They either left this earth much earlier ... or we lived so far apart Julie never got to know them.

So I’ve worked at being a good grandparent. Not just spoiling them (sure, I do that too!). I also work at teaching them and being with them and learning from them. Today - even though one is a teenager at a University - the other a 20 something in the travel industry - I’m still working at it.

Today, being a good grandparent
is the most important thing I do.

Danielle, our family travel industry expert.

Part of the being a good GrandPa is what we "give" Danielle & Brittany. i.e., GrandMa Nancy and I give a trip as a high-school graduation present. A trip to anywhere in the world our granddaughters wish to go.

It’s girls only ... GrandMa Nancy and the graduating senior. And Mom. Danielle chose southern Europe. They traveled together for 3 weeks and had a blast. It was good ... it was very good.

This year Brittany graduates. We start talking months in advance about where Brit wants to go. Yet ... this year something is different. This year GrandPa has Leukemia.

The brains in our family, university student Brittany RayChelle.

So, Julie jumps in and changes the plan. Julie takes the base idea and becomes a travel agent - deciding the trip for Brittany is to become a family outing. Why? Because it is a good bet, a very good bet, GrandPa won’t be around much longer. And "yes" ladies & gentlemen, that was a good Las Vegas bet in January.

Julie makes all the arrangements, funds the trip - and this "ole man" is with his ladies ... Danielle and Brittany, Julie and Nancy ... for a dozen wonderful days on the Kona Coast of Hawaii.

This "life adventure" is about people. People first. This "life experience" is about survival ... the survival of the people in your life. This trip clearly did that ... it clearly was all about people. It put People First.

The ladies of my life taught me life on earth is all about people ... and "what comes next".

The holiday we had together is something we've never done before. We WILL do it again!

Yes, People FIRST!
